Bartolomeo Bimbi (Florence 1648 - 1729) Still Life with Fruits in a Landscape Oil on canvas Provenance: Sotheby's London - Old Master Paintings 08/06/1987 89 x 117 cm   Another version of this artwork is known, "Frutta", published on page 136, fig. 68, of the volume "Bartolomeo Bimbi a painter of plants and animals at the court of the Medici", from Sotheby's London, auction of 9th April 1986, lot 92. In the file, edited by Riccardo Spinelli, we read: "... the beautiful painting comes to qualify as the compositional prototype of the canvas today in the deposits of Palazzo Pitti (inv. Castello 1910, n. 592) ". The Pitti work in turn was defined by Mina Gregori as very close, from the compositional point of view, to the pair of canvases painted for the Grand Prince Ferdinando de 'Medici, already identified in the inventory of the villa of Poggio a Caiano in 1697 (today in the deposits of Palazzo Pitti inv. Castello 1910, n. 564 and 565 respectively).
