Carpets from Nain received their distinct patterns and colour combinations from the master Hadj Fatollah Habibian Nain. He worked with fewer than ten colours and thereby established the foundation for this carpet that is still popular today. The background colours remain mostly white, beige, blue, and, rarely, red.
