About this Item
Complete and fine volume, first edition. Preface from Bunsei 7 [1824]. 20 double-pages of colour woodblock prints. Slightly soiled, minor worm holes, but overall excellent colour and impression. In original pale blue covers with silver wave decoration. Sold at Christie`s auction in 1989. Upper wrapper verso and lower wrapper recto each sealed TSN [Theodore Scheiwe]. Kiho Kawamura was the son of Bunpo Kawamura, a famous ukio-e painter of the Edo period. Corresponds to Mitchell`s `Example A`, showing that this is an earlier impression than others.
