Französischer Text auf der Rückseite. *** English description: This is a rare and very decorative genuine copper engraved map of Southeast Asia. It was published by Hondius / Mercator in 1609. The map depicts an area from Western India to Formosa (Taiwan) in the East. It is further enriched by two cartouches, a milescale, sailing ships and a seamonster. The map measures 35 x 49 cm (platemark) and is in good condition. The centrefold has been professionally backed with thin japanese paper. French text on verso. International buyers welcome.
