Edmond VAN COPPENOLLE (1843-1915). Still life with lilacs and roses. A dynamic, diagonal composition of branches of freshly cut lilacs and yellow roses, in a clay pot with green glaze. Set against the choppy and dramatic backdrop of an abstract interior. With grotesques of restless light and shadow, in which the inviting change of spring life is more clearly visible. Lively and tremulous movement of spring flowers. Canvas, oil. France. Second half of the 19th century. Canvas size: 67x82 cm.
