Said to have been purchased at Bonhams.

Glue relined. Diagonal 3-inch line of inpaint on the sitter's chest; and a one-inch-long mended tear in the lock of hair to the left of his face. A few spots of restoration. Some contours and shadows reinforced.

Please note that the condition report was updated on Monday, May 13th at 5:00 pm to include: There is a dulling varnish that makes the detection of older restoration very difficult; there does, however, be some scattered old inpainting in man's face and hands, upper right corner; there is some frame rubbing and a fine scattered craquelure.
