1496 ca. BOOK: (INCUNABLE). CASTROVOL, PETRI DE: INCIPIUNT FORMALITATES DE NOVO COMPILATE PER... [FORMALITATES ADMODUM REVERENDI MAGISTRI FRATRIS, on first page]. S.l.i.n.a. [Pamplona]: [Analdus Guillermus de Brocario], ca. 1496. The date when Pedro de Castrovol finished the work, 1468, is included in the colophon, but it should not be taken as the date of printing. The coat of arms of the printer Arnaldo Guillermo de Brocario does appear. It consists of 20 hours. (sign. a8, b6-c6). Text in Gothic font, two typographies, 37 lines. Wide margins. It has old handwritten notes in some margin and on the first page. Beautiful and sober gums in full skin with dry irons in both planes, 5 nerves with dry irons. First edition of this work by Pedro de Castrovol. Little is known about the author, although he himself reports that he was born in Mayorga (his surname is Castrovol, which is a town very close to Mayorga, in the province of Valladolid, although it was then the kingdom of León). From the Franciscan order and master of theology, he was a professor at the University of Lleida. Palau 49101. Haebler 135. Kurz 85. Vindel VI, 8. Goyena 9. Polain 1022. ISTC ic00254500. Very rare in trade, both Iberian Books and ISTC locate only seven copies.
