15th C. Thai Sawankhalok Pottery Jar, ex-Museum

Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sawankhalok culture, ca. 15th century CE. A wonderful pottery jar boasting a melon-form body with an elongated neck and circular rim, all sitting upon a spool-form pedestal foot. An incised lattice pattern adorns the redware exterior, enveloping the body while leaving the foot and neck bare. Size: 4.5" Diameter x 11.5" H (11.4 cm x 29.2 cm)

Provenance: ex-Ashland University Museum, Ashland, Ohio, USA, donated to Ashland University between July 1994 to December 1998

Condition Report: Some repair and restoration to neck and rim. Expected nicks chips and abrasions, commensurate with age. Otherwise, excellent with nice remaining detail. Remains of collection label on neck and old collection label on base. Nice encrustations on interior.
