15th C. Thai Sawankhalok Pottery Jar, ex-Museum

Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sawankhalok culture, ca. 15th century CE. A wonderful pottery jar boasting a melon-form body with an elongated neck and circular rim, all sitting upon a spool-form pedestal foot. An incised lattice pattern adorns the redware exterior, enveloping the body while leaving the foot and neck bare. Size: 4.5" Diameter x 11.5" H (11.4 cm x 29.2 cm)

Provenance: ex-Ashland University Museum, Ashland, Ohio, USA, donated to Ashland University between July 1994 to December 1998
