16th C. German Steel & Leather Finger Armor

[ translate ]

**Originally Listed At $150**

Western Europe, Germany, ca. 16th century CE. A piece of protective armor; a steel and leather finger covering from a gauntlet. The finger is formed by 6 segmented plates that are riveted together to create an articulated covering. The interior is lined by a piece of leather and a second small fragment of leather at the knuckle would attach this finger to the rest of the gauntlet. These segmented finger coverings were innovative for giving the wearer a range of motion and protection that the mitten shaped, or fingerless gauntlets lacked. Size: 3.125" L x 0.8" W (7.9 cm x 2 cm)

Provenance: ex-estate of Eldert Bontekoe, Pegasi Numismatics, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA, acquired before 2000

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to recent increases of shipments being seized by Australian & German customs (even for items with pre-UNESCO provenance), we will no longer ship most antiquities and ancient Chinese art to Australia & Germany. For categories of items that are acceptable to ship to Australia or Germany, please contact us directly or work with your local customs brokerage firm.

#158124
