1750 1ed Fenelon Metaphysics EARLY New York Provenance
1750 1ed Fenelon Metaphysics EARLY New York Provenance Philosophy Existence God
Primarily remembered for his novel “The Adventures of Telemachus”, Francois Fenelon was a French archbishop of Cambray who wrote several poems, essays, and important letters. His collection of letters is highly desirable because it is filled with discussions and lessons on metaphysics, the characteristics and existence of God, the authority of the Catholic Church, man’s immortality, free will, and a brief view into Judaism.
These letters were unique in that they sought to further many of the concepts developed by Descartes but from a mystical and metaphysical perspective. This 1750 English edition was published in Scotland and translated from the 1718 collection published in Paris.
