Renaissance Style Casket in black walnut, having a solid top with sturdy brass ring lift, decorated with a set of four floral medallions on the top panel, edged by substantial bands of acanthus leaves and lozenges, with lock, (no key or tongue); the front of the case having a deep relief panel featuring two pair of cherubs flanking heraldic shields, alternating with bird and foliage motifs, set between aggressively carved and canted grotesque masks as stiles, the sides having lion head masks with sturdy wrought iron ring lifts trapped in their mouths, the lower molding repeating the lid edge, the entirety resting on bold four-toed lion paw feet, 37 1/4" x 74 1/2" x 25 1/2". Minor wear.
