1840 One Penny Black and Two Pence Blue
1840 2d. blue plate 1 TF, fine used on 1841 (Sept.) cover from London, addressed to 'R.F. Gubby Esq., Great Western Steam Ship Co., Bristol', tied by black Maltese Cross with a good strike of the London scalloped 'SUN' datestamp in red (this c.d.s. rarely seen after 1839). The addressee worked with Brunel in the 1830s on major projects such as 'S.S. Great Western' and 'S.S. Great Britain', a possibly unique combination of 1840 2d. blue and the Sunday mark.
