Beautiful Vintage 1870's Broken Dishes Antique Quilt, Hand Inked Signatures!
Description
This BEAUTIFUL cotton 1870's broken dishes quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted, with hand inked signatures in some of the blocks. Some of the names are: Mary Pottsgrove, Sarah W. Smith, Lizzie Peters, Mary Taylor, Evalyn Bowin, Clara Cadwallades, Hanna M. Rush, Hanna Rowan, Ann Cline ("Think of me"), Margret Swisher, Esther Fisher, Susan H. Blain, Susan Underwood, Ann Hunter, and Sophia Stover.
It measures 78" X 80" and is in excellent condition, with a couple of small, faint spots and no wear.
There are straight line and grid designs quilted throughout at an even 8-10 stitches to the inch.
The back is and hand stitched binding are double pink, copper madder prints are used in places, and the batting is very thin.
The photos just don't do justice to this elegant 19th century COLLECTOR'S QUILT in GREAT CONDITION!
