18TH C. CHINESE YUE WARE BUFF GLAZED STONEWARE CERAMIC
Circa 1730s, high shouldered, with a short ribbed neck to accommodate lashed seal, repeating dark brown floral decoration, 15" x 8" at the shoulder, racks, chips and occlusions, potted by Dehua kilns where they specialized in ceramics with white and cream glazes. In the late Ming dynasty in the 17th century the Dehua wares were creamy in tone but by the 19th century these became more ivory and white. Provenance: From the Estate of Frank Cowan.
