18th C. Indo Persian Iron Pike Head

Central Asia, Pakistan and northern India, Indo-Persian culture, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. A handsome iron spear or lance head with a prominent midrib on both sides and a conical socket. The blade tapers to a tip with shallow grooves flanking the midrib from the socket to the middle of the blade. This socketed head would be mounted on a long pole as a pike or spear. The surface has developed a light russet patina. Size: 13.75" L x .625" W (34.9 cm x 1.6 cm)

Provenance: ex-estate of Eldert Bontekoe, Pegasi Numismatics, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA acquired before 2000
