This is one of a kind, due to such a long aging period before bottling. An absolute pleasure to drink. The house of Wiese & Krohn was founded in 1865 by Theodor Wiese and Dankert Krohn, two Norwegians initially engaged in the codfish trade. For economic reasons, on the return to the North of Europe they needed to load their ships with Portuguese goods, and therefore later on they founded their own Port House. In 1910 Edmundo Falcão Carneiro joined the company and gradually purchased the interests of the other partners and in 1937 he was the sole owner. Today Krohn's main production comes from Quinta do Retiro Novo in the Rio Torto Valley, which they bought in 1989. In 2013 Wiese & Krohn was bought by Taylor's Fladgate group, which took a major step in strengthening its position in the tawny market.
