1914 Talbot 15/20hp Four Seat Tourer Type 4-CB // Registration Number: BS 9954 / Chassis Number: 8257 / Engine Number: CB264 / Guide Price: £15000 - 20000 // Although the name 'Talbot' has a continental ring to it, Clement-Talbot was in fact a British company, manufacturing quality motor cars from 1902. The company was bought out by British-owned Darracq in 1919, which then purchased Sunbeam a little later. This particular Talbot Four Seat Tourer was repatriated from Australia in dismantled form some twenty years ago. The Australian body was in good order and the 15hp engine unit was reconditioned to an exceptional standard in Australia prior to purchase. On arrival to these shores, the late Stephen Pettifer set to the task of a major rebuild and assembly, manufacturing many of the necessary parts himself. The upholstery and weather equipment was produced by a specialist, but all other works were completed by the Talbot's custodian. Some five years later, the motor car was up and running and on the road. Recent maintenance has included the rebuilding of the trembler coil, switch gear and magneto. We would recommend that the new custodian carries out a recommissioning service before returning the motor car to the road. We are told that the Talbot has been a very reliable companion and has been enjoyed at numerous Veteran Car Club events and rallies throughout the UK. A V5C registration certificate is supplied.
