1927 Chevrolet Fire Truck Varna Illinois
The Budd Family was the second owner of this vehicle; the first being the Varna (IL) Volunteer Fire Department in whoÕs livery it was restored. Parts-wise, it is in nearly original condition and was used or stored by the VFD until 1977 when the Department came to our father to see if he wanted to buy it. This vehicle was professionally restored in Rolla, Missouri in the very late 1970Õs. The gold leaf paint work is true to the original and was done by hand by a Professor of Art at the University of Missouri at Rolla. The last two years it was driven in the Lacon Old SettlerÕs Parade, it was driven by a son-in-law carrying VernonÕs granddaughter and the rest of the Midland High School Cheerleading Squad, and later by a grandson who was a Lacon-Sparland Volunteer Fireman. Car was in running condition when parked. Vernon and Charline took exceptional care of this car and would take little to no effort to get this one running again.
