The illustrious neighbor of La Mission - Château Haut-Brion - never overshadowed the estate and, in 1983, the owners of Haut-Brion, the Dillon family, added La Mission to their portfolio of castles. The vines are planted with 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, producing dense and full-bodied wines, enhanced with smoky notes so typical of the Pessac appellation.
