1951 Sunbeam-Talbot 90 Mk II Drophead Coupe // Registration Number: MLN 245 / Chassis Number: A3005169HSO / Engine Number: A3005169HSO / Transmission: Manual / Steering: Right Hand Drive / MOT Test Expiry: Exempt / Guide Price: £11500 - 13000 / Road Tax Exempt // Sunbeam-Talbot's rallying and record-breaking success during the 1950s was put to good use as a canny marketing tool by the company and the post-war models became desirable motor cars. Pre-war Packards were the inspiration behind the 1948 80 and 90 for designer Ted White; with a two litre, four cylinder engine based on the Humber Hawk, the 90 had ample power and very good looks, and production of that model lasted until 1954. This Mk II 90 in Drophead Coupe form is a sound and solid example. Some aspects of the motor car may benefit from detailing; the side windows require a little adjustment, as does the hood frame. However, the upholstery, hood material and hood cover are very smart indeed and mechanically, there are no known faults. Indeed, the Sunbeam-Talbot has recently benefitted from the fitting of: a new clutch, a reconditioned gearbox, new engine and gearbox mountings and a new gear lever. The braking system has also been overhauled and the cost of these works, carried out by marque specialists Sunbeam-Talbot Spares of Barnsley in October of this year, totals £3724.
