FIAT's original '1100' family, which had commenced back in 1937 with the 508C Balilla, eventually came to an end in 1953 with arrival of the all-new unitary construction 1100-103. Built in 1954, the 1100-103 convertible offered here carries stylish coachwork by Carrozzeria Bertone of Turin. Company founder Giovanni Bertone had retired in 1945, but before then had recruited Count Mario Revelli de Beaumont as a styling consultant. Revelli's first job had been with Stabilimenti Farina, from where he moved on to work for FIAT and also the recently founded Pinin Farina. He was an exceptionally influential designer, working later for General Motors and Simca, and is credited with introducing American styling ideas, as is evident from the 'transatlantic' lines and accents of this FIAT convertible.

Registered in Italy, this charming 1950s FIAT, with its most elegant coach-built body by Bertone, is finished in the beautiful colour combination of light grey with contrasting red leather interior and black hood. According to the vendor, the car was refurbished where necessary in 2018, though the beautifully patinated original interior was left untouched. A most elegant coachbuilt FIAT soft-top, from one the greatest names in Italian automotive styling, this 1100-103 would be a welcome entrant into concours d'élégance events the world over or can simply be used and enjoyed for continental touring in style.

La famille des Fiat 1100 qui remonte à 1937 avec la 508 C Balilla s'acheva en 1953 avec l'introduction de la nouvelle 1100-103 monocoque. Construite en 1954, la décapotable 1100-103 offerte ici porte une élégante carrosserie de la Carrozzeria Bertone de Turin. Le fondateur de la firme Giovanni Bertone prit sa retraite en 1945, mais après avoir recruté le comte Mario Revelli de Beaumont comme styliste conseil. Le premier emploi de Revelli avait été chez Stabilimenti Farina avant sa collaboration avec Fiat et Pinin Farina. Styliste très influent, plus tard au service de General Motors et de Simca, il est crédité de l'introduction de concepts de style américains comme le montrent les lignes et les accents « transatlantiques » de ce cabriolet Fiat.

Immatriculée en Italie cette charmante Fiat des années 1950, avec sa carrosserie très élégante construite par Bertone, est peinte dans une très belle combinaison d'une teinte gris clair avec un intérieur en cuir rouge et une capote noire. Selon le vendeur, la voiture a été partiellement retouchée en 2018, à l'exception de l'intérieur d'origine qui présente une belle patine. Très élégante Fiat décapotable, porteuse d'une grande signature du style italien, cette 1100-103 ne peut qu'être distinguée dans les concours d'élégance tout en étant parfaitement utilisable pour de belles randonnées touristiques.
