Maison Moët & Chandon, founded in 1743, is one of the largest champagne producers in the world. The "House" annually produces two million boxes of champagne and in 1962 was the first producer on the French Stock Exchange. The name Chandon was added to the company when Jean-Rémy Moët ceded half of the company to his son-in-law Pierre-Gabriel Chandon de Briailles in 1832, and the other half to his son.
