1964 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider

[ translate ]

Chassis No. AR192730
Engine No. 07887
Introduced in 1962, the Alfa Romeo 2600 "Tipo 106" evolved from the 2000 with a larger 2.6-liter DOHC inline-six. It was the last of Alfa Romeo's classic six-cylinder engines before the brand shifted to four-cylinders later in the decade. The range included the Berlina sedan, Bertone-designed Sprint coupe, and the rare Touring-bodied Spider, of which only 2,255 were built.
The Spider was the sportiest, featuring an all-aluminum engine with triple Solex carburetors, producing 145 CV. Lighter and shorter than the Berlina, it offered a lively top speed over 200 km/h. Four-wheel disc brakes and a five-speed manual highlighted its advanced engineering and status as a refined open sports car.
Finished in Rosso, this 2600 Spider completed production on 21 July 1964 as noted on its Alfa Romeo Certificate of Origin. Interestingly, it notes that the car was not delivered until 24 February 1966, when its first owner in Bari, Italy acquired the Spider. It is believed that the car remained in Italy and before being brought to Andria on the Caspian Sea by 2010.
In Andria, a comprehensive restoration was commenced around 2010, including full mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment. This work included the engine, brakes, fuel system, carburetors, starter, hoses, ancillary components, and a renewed electrical system, including lights, instrumentation, horn, and charging system.
During the mechanical work, the body was sandblasted, treated with anti-corrosion coating, and refinished in Rosso. The trim was rechromed and polished to complement the new paint. The interior received new leather, carpets, dashboard trim, a period-correct Blaupunkt radio, and a new black canvas soft top.
Showing 6,160 kilometers at cataloging, representing the distance since its complete restoration. Beautifully finished in iconic Rosso with a dark grey leather interior and black canvas soft top, this attractive 2600 Spider is a prime example of this rarely seen six-cylinder powered Alfa Romeo.
