1982 Honda CBX 1000 Super Sport
Frame No. JH2SC0600CC401226
The Honda CBX 1000 Super Sport, introduced in the late 1970s, is a legendary superbike that left an indelible mark on the motorcycling world. While not the first motorcycle to come equipped with a six-cylinder engine, the CBX 1000 Super Sport was technically composed, delivering an astonishing blend of power and smoothness. Upon introduction in 1978, sub-12 second quarter mile times were the norm while crossing the line at nearly 118 miles per hour. The distinctive transverse placement of its inline engine featured a bank of six-into-two exhaust pipes, creating a symphony of sound that further enhanced its allure.
For 1981 Honda revamped the CBX 1000 Super Sport into a sport-tourer with a revised suspension system, larger brakes with twin front discs, a larger “sculptured” 5.8 gallon fuel tank, rider leg protectors and twin removable panniers added to each side. This well-cared for example is offered from the final year of Super Sport production, finished in the most 80s of all colors – Pearlescent White – with appropriate tri-color blue Super Sport graphics. Recently emerging from a western Pennsylvania motorcycle collection, this Honda CBX 1000 Super Sport is offered with 9,513 miles at the time of cataloging and will surely deliver an exciting and period experience for years to come.
