PORSCHE 911 CARRERA

Porsche revived the evocative Carrera name—previously reserved for the competition-oriented versions of the 356—for its luxuriously equipped, top-of-the-range 911 in 1973. By the start of the 1984 model year, the Carrera title was applied across all 911 variants, coinciding with the introduction of the 3.2-liter engine. This revival marked a major update to the long-running 911, which was now selling better than ever after development had slowed while Porsche focused on meeting rising demand.

While retaining the classic air-cooled flat-six layout, the 3.2-liter engine was some 80% new, featuring an effective cam chain tensioner and improved lubrication system—finally addressing a longstanding 911 weakness. For the first time, an ECU controlled both fuel and ignition, making the engine more powerful, efficient, and responsive. Producing 207 bhp, a 27-horsepower increase over its predecessor, the Carrera's performance approached that of the original 1974 911 Turbo. This translated to a 0-60 mph time of just 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 150 mph (241 km/h), with 100 mph (160 km/h) reached in an exhilarating 14.0 seconds.

THE CAR OFFERED

Offered here is a highly collectible 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe, one of only 6,000 U.S.-spec Carreras produced that year. Finished in iconic Guards Red with a complementary Black Leather interior, this Carrera represents the pinnacle of the G-Series 911s, combining timeless styling, legendary performance, and the unmistakable air-cooled driving experience.

The car is equipped with front and rear spoilers, a power sunroof, 16″ Fuchs alloy wheels, power-adjustable driver's seat, air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, a Blaupunkt Aspen stereo, and a RUF exhaust, blending classic Porsche character with subtle performance enhancements.

Recently serviced and showing just 20,839 miles, this Carrera has also undergone a dry ice engine cleaning, ensuring it is mechanically as impressive as it is visually.

As part of the G-Series 911 (1974–1989)—celebrated for durability, reliability, and iconic design—this 1986 Carrera Coupe stands out as a rare, investment-grade example. Its combination of low mileage, original specification, and collectible color makes it an exceptional opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts seeking a car that delivers authentic Porsche driving pleasure and long-term value.
