1998 Ferrari F1 F 355 BERLINETTA

Documented history
Last true ‘berlinetta' Ferrari
Scrupulously maintained

Chassis N° ZFFXR41B000111056 3496cc V8 - 380bhp
French registration

Replacing the Ferrari 348, which had been in production for barely three years, the F355 proved to be the marque's biggest success to date.
Introduced in 1994, it was based on its predecessor and had a modernised ver- sion of that car's Pininfarina styling. The 348's side strakes were replaced by two ducts, one large and one small, and the front apron was revised, while the rear reverted to the four round lights so closely tied to the Ferrari image. This restyling was principally guided by a wish to optimise the aerodynamics, and involved 1800 hours of windtunnel work. The 3496cc V8 was based on the 348's engine but had a new fivevalves- per-cylinder top end, taking power to 380bhp - 109bhp per litre, which was a record at the time for a normally-aspirated unit. The car was available with either a manual gearbox or a paddle-shift F1-type automatic. A watershed car for Ferrari, the F355 was very much the most well-honed of all the berlinetta series, and today its timeless lines, exemplary road behaviour and sonorous V8 make it a true ‘must have' for enthusiasts of the marque.
The F355 F1 Berlinetta that we are offering was delivered new in Belgium on 10 April 1998, via Garage Francorchamps. With a certified genuine mileage of 78,100km (48,530 miles), the car has been regularly serviced by official Ferrari dealers or marque specialists. First looked after by Winandy Frères in Luxembourg, it was then maintained successively by Pozzi in Paris, Gauduel in Lyons and finally independent specialists EP Automotive Racing of Mons-en-Laonnois, who have serviced the Ferrari with effect from 2016. Since then, more than 10,000 € has been invested in the car, including cam-belt replacement at 76,050km (47,257 miles). A substantial file of bills traces the service history back to 2005.
Aesthetically, the F355 is still in its original Rosso Corsa and the interior is in good condition. The beige Connolly leather is patinated but well-preserved and plastic items have resisted the passage of time. As for the mechanicals, the V8 spins sweetly up the rev range and the F1 box, whether used manually or as an automatic, offers suitably crisp changes. Although this is a model that can be found quite easily on the secondhand market, it is more difficult to come across an example with such a well-documented history - the original service book, a file of bills, three sets of keys...
