An antique French-style desk inkwell. Featuring tessellated rich green malachite in a round form, and a plate frame for resting fountain pens. Elegantly complemented by a rich gilt bronze trim and delicate hanging ring embellishments adorning its sides. The inkpot itself features a glass insert and a gracefully rounded hinged lid. No apparent makers mark. An old label with crown and two letters affixed to underside. Provenance: This item originated from a distinguished auction event hosted by Sotheby's in October 1995, designated as LOT 3730 at the Neues Schloss (New Castle), Baden-Baden, Germany. It was a part of the royal collection belonging to Margrave Max von Baden (1933-2022), a prominent figure in European aristocracy and the first cousin of Prince Charles III. This auction showcased a selection of valuable items from his esteemed collection.
