Manner of William Merritt Chase (American, 1849-1916). A large late 19th Century oil painting on canvas, titled Woman Seated At Breakfast table. It depicts, in a soft palette with a dreamlike quality, a woman wearing a dressing robe, reading the morning newspaper and seated at a table with teapot and other ceramic objects. Presented in a decorative gilt wooden frame. Unsigned. Includes pedigree photocopy of 1973 exhibition label from the PARRISH ART MUSEUM (Southampton, NY), which incorporates a photographic image of the work being displayed in its original interior setting. Also includes photographic image of the ancestor of the painting's owner, who is imputed to have been William Merritt Chase's sitter model. Gallery offers no proof or guarantee of said provenance.
