19C Silver Relief Portrait in Box w/ Sotheby's Tag

A Victorian antique portrait in high relief of a royal distinguished gentleman. Encased in an ornate carved Jet picture frame showcasing an intricate crown finial detailing. Presented in a fitted red velvet lined fitted box. The portrait has engraved initials "HNU SANTER" at the bottom right and test silver. The picture, without easel back, measures approximately 9" x 7" x 1". Provenance: This item originated from a distinguished auction event hosted by Sotheby's in October 1995, at the Neues Schloss (New Castle), Baden-Baden, Germany. It was a part of the royal collection belonging to Margrave Max von Baden (1933-2022), a prominent figure in European aristocracy and the first cousin of Prince Charles III. This auction showcased a selection of valuable items from his esteemed collection.

Dimensions: 2.5 X 12.5 X 11 in.

Condition: Fair overall condition having moderate patina, surface wear, with heavy soiling to cover of velvet box, and losses to crown crest of frame, that needs to be repaired (few fragments included). Please bid accordingly. Estate fresh to the market.
