An antique wicker twig basket plant stand. Intricate braided wicker basket, on a tripodal bent branch wood mount and legs with gilt finish. Orange velvet ribbon around the trim, and a front velvet trimmed embroidered needlepoint arts and crafts style textile with a foliate design in orange, beige and golden brown hues. No apparent makers mark. Retains at old "Schloss Baden" label to the underside, pertaining to the New Castle of Baden, Germany, where the piece was originated. Provenance: This item originated from a distinguished auction event hosted by Sotheby's in October 1995, designated as LOT 3615 at the Neues Schloss (New Castle), Baden-Baden, Germany. It was a part of the royal collection belonging to Margrave Max von Baden (1933-2022), a prominent figure in European aristocracy and the first cousin of Prince Charles III. This auction showcased a selection of valuable items from his esteemed collection.
