19TH C. IRISH LINEN DINING ROOM TABLE COVER FROM IRELAND. - Linen - Late 19th century

This "former" Irish bedspread has an extraordinary Provenance. It belonged, until we obtained it recently, to a French - Irish Aristocratic Noble Dynasty . We can date it to approx. 1885 as the name "LAIO' ( Irish we believe for Liam) was born that date we have been assured) It is exquisitely embroidered with such a variety of stitches and please study the photos. We believe it was never used as bedspread as it is in mint condition. We have photographed it as a dinner table cover as it just does not do it justice as a bedspread behind closed doors and needs to be seen, loved and cherished. It is opulent and so very beautiful. Words fail me to describe it. It would have taken the Irish embroiderers considerable time to create this rare work of art. P. S If you require clearer photos please contact us.
