square form, the exterior compact with black lacquer and gilt designs of insects, the lid featuring a small inlaid scene with accents of mother-of-pearl, centered a metal key hole, the interior featuring a scene of Mt. Fuji with two wooden filing compartments featuring naturalistic designs, two hidden compartments, the desk, with two glass inkwells, expanding featuring a felt working area; height: 14 cm (5 1/2 in.), dimensions when closed: 27 x 40 cm (10 5/8 x 15 3/4 in.), dimensions when expanded: 43 x 40 cm (16 7/8 x 15 3/4 in.)

CONDITION
The desk appears in age-appropriate condition. The exterior with scattered chips resulting in scattered flaking and losses. The interior with overall surface dust. Wear to the felt working area. Scattered chips and losses to the wooden border of the working area. Minor patina to the hinges. General use, consistent with wear and age. Accompanied by a single key.
