Indonesia, Borneo, Eastern Kalimantan, Kayanic peoples, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. An elegant cast brass adornment from a woven basketry helmet with a double triangular shape at its upper end. The sharp V-form at its center has sparing openwork abstract motifs symmetrically down the interior sides of the V, meant to evoke the writhing limbs of a protective spirit. Size: 3.9" W x 6.2" H (9.9 cm x 15.7 cm)
