A hand-colored steel engraving, an illustration from "The History of the Indian Mutiny" by Charles Ball, Volume I, The London Printing & Publishing Company. The text in the margin below the scene reads, "The enemy still defended himself to the utmost until the guns under Lieut. Gordon opened fire when the rebels panic stricken instantly threw themselves into the river." Beneath this, "THE LONDON PRINTING AND PUBLISHING COMPANY LIMITED." Set in a custom double linen-covered mat under glass and an attractive gilded/faux burl-finished wooden frame.
