19th C. Chinese Iron Flail w/ Wooden Handle
East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th century CE. An intriguing flail with a beater head formed from a thick wooden dowel that is reinforced with semicircular riveted iron panels. The stocky head hangs from a chain comprised of circular links, and a wooden handle enables the weapon to be swung with great strength. Size: 22.75" L x 1.3" W (57.8 cm x 3.3 cm).
