19th C. European Painting 'Madonna of the Chair'

Europe, ca. late 19th to early 20th C. An oil on canvas after Raphael's "Madonna of the Chair" (1518) also known as the "Madonna Della Sedia," currently in the Palazzo Pitti collection, Florence. The composition depicts Mary embracing the Christ Child while John the Baptist looks on. The artist of this piece clearly admired Raphael's composition, his Roman period style, as well as his warm color palette which was influenced by Titian. Set in an ornate gilt frame with high relief fruit and foliage motifs. A lovely antique painting after one of the legends of the Italian Renaissance. Size: 11.25" in diameter (28.6 cm); 17.25" in diameter (43.8 cm) with frame
