Wilfred Head, London, 1874. Hardcover quarto, includes the pedigrees of 130 familes, most in the form of large foldout sheets, hardbound in brown leather with gilt blind stamped covers, gilt lettering to spine, five raised hubs. The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America ex libris plate to interior of front cover. 12 1/4" H x 10" W x 2 1/2" D. 2nd item: THE AMERICAN WEEKLY MESSENGER OR REGISTER OF STATE PAPERS, HISTORY AND POLITICS FOR 1813-1814, Vol. 1, printed for John Conrad, Philadelphia, 1814. Hardcover octavo, 473 pages, hardbound in one quarter brown leather with partial printed paper sides. Topics covered include the War of 1812, Militia and Naval engagements including the capture of the Argus and Commodore Matthew Perry, Messages from the governors of Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia and Kentucky (among others) to their respective state legislatures, Claiborne's message to the legislature of New Orleans, War with Creek Indians, death of Tecumsah, etc. Dated from Sept 25, 1813-March 19, 1814, with addendum. Inscriptions to front and back for the Abner Lee family of Owensboro, KY. 9 3/4" H x 6 1/8" W x 1 1/2" D. Provenance: The Estate of Cora Jane Spiller, Bowling Green, KY.
Condition Report: 1st item: Front cover is separated from spine, wear/rubbing to leather, corners bumped. Pages in overall good, legible condition with toning, foxing spots, tears. 2nd item: Significant losses to portions of front and rear end papers. Overall significant toning, foxing and fading. Significant wear and bumping to spine and covers. Interior pages foxed but readable.
