"This 300 km/h technical masterpiece, designed, built and prepared totally within Jaguar, was to achieve a hat-trick of spectacular Le Mans victories in the 1950s." - Paul Skilleter, Jaguar: The Sporting Heritage.
Skilleter was, of course, referring to the legendary Jaguar D-Type, which is replicated here in 2/3-scale child's car form. Supposedly built by 'Design Interface', this re-creation of the legendary 'long nose' D-Type of 1955 is powered by a 179cc Acme four-stroke OHV petrol engine complete with electric starter (or manual start), a manual gearbox with two forward gears and reverse, with conventional clutch-brake-accelerator lay out with adjustable reach. Fitted with functioning gauges including speedo, tacho and temperature, correct functioning light lay out. Finished in British Racing Green, the D-Type features a rear-mounted external engine kill switch, which parents can use if required. The car has a fiberglass body and an all-aluminium chassis featuring double wishbone front suspension, coil-over shock absorbers, drum brakes and geared steering. Trimmed in green, the interior boasts a wood-rim steering wheel and a full complement of instruments. One of the finest and most exclusive child's cars currently available, this miniature D-type comes with a made-to-measure car cover and an instruction manual for the ACME engine. The car is presented in 'as new' condition; indeed, the original labels are still in place on the tyres!
