2001 Audi RS4 Avant

[ translate ]

Chassis No. WUAZZZ8DZ1N903780
Building on the template established by the Porsche-assisted RS2 Avant, the 2001 Audi RS4 Avant brought Audi's high-performance estate formula to its most focused iteration yet. Produced for just 15 months, with only 6,030 examples completed, it remains one of the most coveted German performance wagons of its era. Importantly, the RS4 B5 was a product of quattro GmbH rather than a standard series-production Audi. Based on the contemporary S4, the cars were reportedly completed to roughly 75 percent on Audi's regular production line before final assembly was finished by hand at quattro GmbH, a distinction further reflected by the model's WUAZZZ chassis number prefix rather than Audi's usual WAUZZZ format.
Beneath its subtly widened bodywork lay a 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6, extensively reworked with Cosworth-cast aluminum cylinder heads, larger intercoolers, strengthened internals, and BorgWarner K04 turbochargers to deliver 380 PS. A six-speed manual transmission and Torsen-based quattro all-wheel drive ensured that performance was readily usable in all conditions, while uprated suspension, a wider track, and distinctive alloy wheels gave the RS4 its unmistakable stance.
Finished in Imolagelb over Onyx cloth and leather, this RS4 Avant was first registered to Audi Grimm GmbH & Co. in Hamburg on 24 April 2001 and was used in-house before passing into private ownership. The car was equipped with a notable selection of factory options including a glass sunroof, satellite navigation, cruise control, CD changer, TV reception, an optic package with window trim, and a car phone. Original invoices document extensive additional tuning components from new, raising output from the factory-rated 380 PS to an impressive 440 PS. These included 19-inch BBS alloy wheels, Bilstein suspension with H&R springs, a Digi-Tec stainless steel exhaust and ECU tuning, which are noted in the car's registration papers. In subsequent years, the Audi also received Porsche GT3 brakes with 380 mm front discs and yellow calipers, a MOV'IT rear brake conversion, a boost gauge, and a Sportec short-shift kit. Ordered at a base price of 132,018 DM, a comprehensive package of options and documented tuning modifications raised the final invoice to 207,698 DM—equivalent to €106.194—a considerable sum at the time and notably more than the €79.344 list price of a new 2001 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Coupe.

The accompanying warranty and service booklet records Audi dealer servicing from 2002 through 2010, including entries by Audi Grimm in Hamburg and later Autohaus Levermann in Balve. An April 2010 service at 60,505 km is further supported by an accompanying invoice documenting a major service that included the timing belt, water pump, brake fluid service, and spark plugs. The car's service history and original upgrades are exceptionally well documented, with a substantial history file that includes the original order paperwork as well as numerous past invoices and technical documents. Used sparingly in recent years, it now shows 74,431 km and benefits from a further recent timing belt change in preparation for the sale. Attractively specified, this RS4 Avant blends understated super-estate performance with everyday practicality, making it a compelling modern classic for any enthusiast of discreet German pace.
