2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupe
Chassis No. WDDRJ7HAXBA005770
AMG engineers and designers are used to creating powerful and dynamic automobiles; however, nothing could have prepared them for what they were told in a Sindelfingen boardroom in the late 2000s. In short, they were requested to create not just a new AMG super sports car, but one that brought their most cherished design, the 300 SL Gullwing Coupe, into the modern era. Also the first Mercedes to be designed and built from scratch entirely by AMG, the SLS or "Super Leicht Sport" was launched during the 2009 Frankfurt International Auto Show. Designed by Mark Fetherston, the SLS would feature signature gullwing doors paired with a muscular exterior design that finds the perfect balance between elegance and power.
Powered by a 6.2-liter, naturally aspirated V8 offering 563 horsepower, AMG engineers maintained an impressive weight distribution by developing this fantastic dry-sump variant of their “M159” engine which allowed the SLS to maintain a low hood line. Paired with a quick-shifting seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the SLS would reach 60 miles per hour in just 3.8 seconds. With a top speed of 196 miles per hour, six-piston aluminum brake calipers provide the necessary braking performance. While capable of astonishing performance figures, the AMG Drive Unit allows for selectable drive modes working in conjunction with the suspension and transmission for tailored driving characteristics based on the driver's preference.
Finished in a stunning specification, this unique 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupe features an AMG Daytona Blue exterior and is tastefully equipped with AMG forged wheels, a deployable rear-spoiler, and bi-xenon headlights. Trimmed with Nut Brown leather, aluminum trim, and an optional Bang & Olufsen premium sound system creates a wonderful interior environment, equally well suited for long highway stretches or gobbling up twisty two-lane blacktop.
Offered with 24,293 miles at the time of cataloging, this highly optioned SLS AMG comes complete with two vehicle keys, an additional set of floormats and factory books. Perhaps most impressive is that this SLS AMG is offered with excellent service history including a full service performed in February of 2023 for which a receipt is on file and is protected by paint protection film with a ceramic coating. With these models beginning to display their surefire collectability in recent years, this example, specified in an incredible color combination is well-positioned to continue to trajectory of the 300 SL Gullwing Coupe of which it was inspired by.
