20th C. Tlingit Wood Female Doll w/ Hide, Fur

Native American, Pacific Northwest, Tlingit peoples, ca. 20th century CE. A charming doll, made from carved wood and richly ornamented. She has a painted face, a felt blanket decorated with dual ravens, a hide dress with fringe and beads, and ermine boots and headdress. The headdress also has a dual eagle motif on its front. Her arms and legs are partially articulated and she has soft leather hands. She is part of a doll-making tradition amongst the Tlingit and other Pacific Northwest groups that is centuries old. Size: 9" W x 18" H (22.9 cm x 45.7 cm); 18.05" H (45.8 cm) on included custom stand.
