20th Century Stone Statue of Vicenza Depicting the

[ translate ]

An antique Italian carved Vicenza stone sculpture representing an allegory of Summer, early years of the 20th century. Vicenza stone, extracted in the Berici hills (VI), is characterized by a calcareous structure of dual origin, clastic and biogenic, thus it is the result of the deposition of marly material transported by rivers to the sea and of the sedimentation of aquatic organisms skeletons. The traditional 'Vicenza Stone' par excellence is characterized by its light ivory color. It is the most popular stone for classical sculptures, and it is particularly suitable for internal and external claddings, internal floors and staircases, and every other building component. It is the result of the sedimentation of innumerable minute fossils, which create its uniform thin basis and flowery texture, due to the presence of fossil algae. In good state of conservation.
