3 Jalisco Bichrome Nude Female Sheep Face Figures

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A nice set of 3 hand-built and red-slipped pottery female 'sheep face' figures, so called because of their highly stylized ovine facial features. Two figures stand nude with outstretched arms, globular breasts, and elongated heads, both with white pigment forming beaded pectorals, earspool decorations, and headband stripes. The third figure sits via integral posterior protuberances while covering their body with a white-painted shawl. Size of largest: 3.1" W x 6.1" H (7.9 cm x 15.5 cm)
