3 Moche Copper Mace Heads w/ Etchings - Disc & Sun

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche or Vicus culture, ca. 100 to 700 CE. A fantastic collection of three dazzling copper mace heads, cast via the lost-wax technique. Two are disc shaped with a large opening in the center for hafting onto a handle. The larger disc is engraved on one face with linear crosshatching. Both have thick notches encircling the perimeter, creating a deadly edge. The other mace is an ornate sun shape with 21 bar-shaped fins projecting outward. Around the central hafting hole on one side are stylized wind or wave motifs etched into the face. Each mace head was certainly intended to inspire respect and to inflict maximum damage if needed, no matter from which direction the mace was swung. These are polished to reveal their glimmering surfaces and would be beautiful display pieces. Condition Report: All are intact and very good. Age expected surface pitting and abrasions. Mineral deposits and several areas of green patina and toning on all. Surfaces are polished and shiny.
