Next, the Medieval English brooch displays an openwork circular form, a castellated periphery and 8 incised dots between 8 risen bezels of blue, maroon, and black modern wax. Last, the silver ring boasts a brilliant ovoid inlay of tangerine-hued garnet, now known as spessartine (named for Spessart, Germany, where the mineral was first discovered), flanked by 4 risen bands embellished with incised vertical striations.
