4 West Mexico Pottery Miniatures w/ 2 Whistles

**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro, Jalisco, Colima, and Nayarit, ca. 500 BCE to 300 CE. A wonderful selection of 4 hand-built pottery miniatures. First is a seated Chupicuaro figure with faint remains of red pigment. Second is a Nayarit pottery discoidal, perhaps an applique, with a radiant red bullseye motif atop a cream ground. Third is a Colima pottery whistle decorated with chocolate brown pigment and exhibiting a quartet of petite tone holes. The largest is a Jalisco figural whistle with nubbin legs, sinuous arms, and a large, conical nose; a mouthpiece is situated atop the head. Size of largest (standing whistle): 0.8" W x 1.7" H (2 cm x 4.3 cm)

Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s

Condition Report: All pieces have minor abrasions and fading to pigment, with light encrustations to figure and both whistles, otherwise intact and very good. Great surface smoothness and nice remains of pigment throughout.
