43163: William McKinley: Garland Stove Company Gold Dol
William McKinley: Garland Stove Company Gold Dollar Cane. 37.5" wooden cane with 2-piece cast iron handle in the shape of a gold piece. Dated 1896, the coin has Lady Liberty on the obverse while the reverse reads "Garland Sound Money Club Organized Sept 26 1896". The handle fits onto a wooden shaft, secured by a nut & screw. Probably issued by employees of the Garland Stove Works in Detroit, Michigan. They also made the Carrie Nation cast iron hatchets. Some oxidation to the gold finish of the "dollar", concentrated near the top. Would make a great addition to any Bryan & McKinley money collection. Excellent condition overall.
