57620: Early 20th Century Drum Granulated Smoking Tobac

[ translate ]

Early 20th Century Drum Granulated Smoking Tobacco Five-Cent Pouch. Sure, we could have been more than pleased to offer one unopened tobacco pouch of "Drum" tobacco but this makes it twice the fun and befitting this very special collection. Any card displaying the Drum brand is very rare with packing close to impossible. Our offered pouch is totally 100 unopened, the 1910 tax stamp is intact but does have a couple separations at the top and appears to be untampered with. Overprint letters spell out the beginning of the word "FACTORY" along the first line and the first part of "SEPTEMBER" on a second line. The paper band shows just light wear along top or bottom edges. This is the larger sized Five-cent pouch that measures close to 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" x 1-1/4" with 100+ year old tobacco inside. Just how many of these have survived is hard to say but if there were ten verified example swe would be surprised. Like the cards, if this was in poor condition there would still be massive appeal. To find one fully intact with tax stamp, paper band and string with no damage to the cloth pouch is astounding. HID03101062020 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
