9th C. Islamic Incised Glass Bottle

Ancient Near East, Islamic, ca. 9th to 12th century CE. A cylindrical body with a long conical neck which slightly flares at its top. Its exterior has beautifully incised decorations of a minimalist nature displaying linear, circular and leaf-shaped forms. A heavy iridescence and lovely creme-colored earthen deposits accent the translucent sage green multi-textured surface which boasts opaqe and glossy qualities. This example has aged with true grace, gaining even more beauty and intrigue with time. Size: 1.75" W x 4.75" H (4.4 cm x 12.1 cm)

Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection; ex-private prominent D.K. collection, New York, USA, acquired in the 2000s
