A 19th century mourning locket together with a mourning ring of a similar period. The locket is in precious yellow metal to the back and front (surface testing as 9ct) with a base metal bale and frame, with black enamel to the front, picking out the words "In memory of" and an engraved floral design to the verso. Approximate length from the bale: 35mm. The locket contains two feather formed locks of hair in the glazed compartments. The ring is stamped "15ct" to the shank and tests accordingly. Size K1/2. Approximate weight of ring: 2.08 grams; locket: 9.77 grams. Condition report: There is some splitting to the metal on the verso of the locket, revealing non-gold structural material beneath.
